Life is a journey and it presents us with struggles. Our minds are resilient and plastic, yet when we are blocked we may not appreciate this. I give my clients tools to help themselves adjust and adapt to their individual struggles, such as death of a love one, stress, relational breakups and a spectrum of traumas. I am a guide to help my clients resolve their temporary block.

Sometimes, when people come to therapy, they’re looking for a solution to something that feels urgent or overwhelming. At other times, people can't put words to what's wrong, but they know that something that doesn't feel right. Whether you're looking for help with anxiety, life transitions, relationship issues, or something else, my goal is to put our heads together to create a space where you feel truly heard and supported in order to find a way forward. I'm trained in English and Spanish in a variety of therapeutic modalities that range from meaning-oriented work and narrative therapy to behavioral techniques, but what's most important to me is that we come together and use pieces of any of those that will be helpful to the person that I'm sitting with. I have a few openings (in-person or virtually). Contact me for a 25-minute free consultation to see if my style would be helpful for you - or to possibly refer you to a colleague. Looking forward to being of service to you!

For more than 20 years, I have provided therapy to individuals, couples and groups, as well as offering training, consultation and clinical supervision to community organizations. My work centers around bridging transitions, fostering personal growth and developing compassionate responses and strategies to address life’s challenges. In addition to providing support and encouragement, I will challenge you to think critically about the choices you are making and to work toward overcoming the obstacles that may be keeping you from achieving your goals. Whether you’re trying to learn something new, working on making a transition, or building your support network, you have a lot of choice about how and with whom you work on achieving your goals. There are therapists and other service providers to appeal to everyone’s personal style. Taking the time to find a professional who is not only credentialed, but who has an approach or philosophy that resonates with you is an important first step. My approach to everything that I do is to be as real as I can be. Whether I’m working with an individual in a therapy session, presenting to a large audience or collaborating on a community project, I’ve never been someone who is good at faking it. What you see is what you get. I hold myself to the same standards to which I hold my clients—authenticity and honesty are essential. I provide my clients with an accurate reflection of what I see and a professional assessment of how they might do things differently. I will challenge you to think critically about the choices you make and the impact those choices are having on your life. I rely heavily on resources that foster creativity and humor. I don’t rely on gimmicks or hidden agendas—if I’ve got information or tools that will help you, I will share them with you and encourage you to make them your own. As a therapist, I work hard to be flexible and responsive to the needs of my clients. There may be times when you feel you need more encouragement and support and less constructive feedback. Other times you may find that confronting an issue head-on feels more productive. I will encourage both of us to be patient with the process and to pay close attention to progress so that we can make adjustments throughout our work together. My areas of expertise include: mindfulness and meditation; strategies for coping with depression and anxiety; issues around sexuality, sexual functioning and relationships; sexual and gender identity; social skills; trauma; grief; substance use; attention training and living with uncertainty and change. To find out more about me, check out my website at www.jennbrandel.com, or call me to set up an initial consultation to see if we may be able to work together effectively.

**Currently accepting clients for Summer 2024 as of May 2024!** I work with students on all major non-emergent concerns, but I am particularly passionate about concerns around identity development. This is a broad area and includes working through gender or sexuality, what you want to "do" with your life in terms of career or relationships, how you might change patterns you see in your life to be more in alignment with the person you'd like to be, and more. I work with neurodivergent students to better set up their lives to meet their needs. Students might come in to discuss depression, anxiety, drug or alcohol use, or relationships with friends, family, or intimate partners. My goal is always to create a creative and safe environment for you to come closer to achieving what you have set out for yourself. My approach is collaborative and client-centered. I aim to be affirming of all races, sexes and genders, body sizes, religions, and more, with the understanding that I cannot be an expert in lived experiences that are not my own. I offer a free 15 minute consultation call to see if we are a good match for each other. Reach out and we can talk to see if we will be a good fit.

Therapy can be a wonderful way to deepen your understanding of the ways in which you view yourself and your experiences. Having a meaningful life with purpose and promise is something we all strive for. As your therapist I will support you in developing goals and strategies that help you attain the things you want and form a more compassionate, loving view of yourself. I utilize a collaborative approach that is individually tailored to honor the complexity that each person brings to the counseling relationship. We will work to examine core beliefs you have about yourself and how these affect your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Additionally I have seen the benefits in utilizing mindfulness based therapeutic approaches to help develop awareness and acceptance of our life circumstances. Setbacks happen. When they do, how do you use this information? We choose to view adverse experience as a way to help us move forward more positively or as confirmation that things never seem to work out for us. This is an example of a perceptual shift we might work on. Everything that happens within the counseling relationship is on your terms as the Client. I will always honor your wisdom and help you tap into a decision making process that aligns with your core values. Please contact me for a free consultation to discuss your mental health needs and to determine if we are a good fit. During these stressful and uncertain times, therapy can be a much needed support. I treat individuals 18 and up.

We live in a stressful world where everyone is struggling. The current global crisis compiled with our personal life experiences have created a sense of overwhelm, burnout, isolation and disconnection. These experiences activate fear, alter patterns of behavior, create limitations in perception, relationship issues, low self-esteem, addictions, negative thought patterns and a multitude of mental and physical health symptoms. An accumulation of these unprocessed emotions and unresolved traumas can weaken the spirit, affecting one’s core vitality for life. Sometimes the hardest step is reaching out for help when we need it. As a therapist, it is very important to me to provide a uniquely comfortable (and at times - fun!) approach to sessions. It can be difficult to talk about some of life's challenges, so my goal is to be there to help you through it - in a way that works and feels right for you. We all have the tools within us to manage our mood, emotions, and relationships. My job is to empower you to identify and cultivate your strengths and interests to improve connections with yourself and others. The majority of my clinical work has been done in crisis, hospital, and outpatient settings, so I am very comfortable in navigating whatever challenges you may be facing, calmly and without judgment. In addition, I am certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and bring these skills to sessions to further support you. I have an extensive background working with specialized communities such as the LGBTQIA+ community and neurodivergent communities. Outside of sessions you can find me spending time with my cat (who may visit during Telehealth sessions), playing the piano, or creating a list of the best food in Boston. I am originally from Miami and I hope to bring some of that warmth to therapy sessions here in Boston. As a mental health therapist, I offer consulting services to help individuals and organizations improve their mental health and wellbeing. I work in partnership with my clients to identify areas of concern and develop customized solutions to meet their unique needs.

I offer IFS and EMDR therapy to empathetic, high-achieving women who struggle with self-doubt, people-pleasing, emotionally immature relationships, and cycles of trauma. My clients often find me when they can no longer manage the burden alone. They feel stuck in hurtful relationships, they lack trust in themselves, and they feel shame even when they know it’s not their fault. You deserve peace. My goal is to help you feel deeply connected to your values and intuition so you can break free from the cycles you’ve been stuck in and thrive as the most authentic version of yourself.
