Hello! I am a licensed clinical social worker at Farmington Valley Counseling Center in Avon, CT. I specialize in work with children, adolescents, young adults and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, common life stressors (adjusting to college, adulting, divorce, death of a loved one, relationship issues). I utilize a strengths-based approach and help clients learn practical skills and strategies to better manage stress, anxiety, and the ups and downs of life. We do provide clients with "superbills" so they can seek out-of-network reimbursement, if desired. Please check with your insurance company to determine if you have any coverage for services provided by out of network providers. The practice accepts all major credit cards, HSA cards, FSA cards, cash and checks.

If someone asked you not to think for 10 minutes how hard would that be? Is overthinking about the “What Ifs” driving you to relentlessly check things over and over again? Are you determined to find certainty in an uncertain world? Do you frequently ask others repeatedly if something or someone is going to be OK? No matter how much you do a task or say a particular thing does peace of mind elude you? Does the compulsion to handwash, re-read, double-check, pray, or re-arrange items never provide lasting relief? Do you find yourself burdened by intrusive thoughts that strike against your will and preoccupy your mind for hours a day? OCD is characterized by unabating obsessions matched with intense mental or behavioral rituals to relieve the anxiety provoked. It is not treated by “talk therapy” but with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Through customized gradual exposures, ERP is an evidence-based method of intervention to reduce the severity of OCD symptoms. Exposure Therapy Designs is a telehealth practice that focuses on providing EMDR and ERP for individuals struggling with OCD and PTSD. Our clinicians offer evidence and strengths-based counseling with multicultural sensitivity. We are solutions-oriented and practice from a Solutions Focused Brief Therapy Model. ERP is a collaborative and creative approach to learning new skills and strategies to become comfortable with uncertainty and more confident in your ability to handle life’s unexpected challenges. My style is compassionate, client-centered, and culturally sensitive. Licensed in California and Massachusetts. Registered Out-of-State Telehealth provider for Florida. Research indicates that approximately 40 to 60 percent of OCD conditions have a trauma onset. Often talking about the trauma(s) can retraumatize a person. For that reason, Eye Movement and Desensitization Response (EMDR) and the Flash Technique are evidence-based treatment interventions utilized to resolve the severity of PTSD symptoms. Our treatment focus is on neurodivergent issues and gifted learners. Therapeutic style is evidenced and strength based, multiculturally sensitive, solutions oriented, client centered, and collaborative. You are the expert on you. Our role is to facilitate and support an awareness of how to implement changes to overcome unhelpful patterns in thinking and decision-making. We strive to see the whole person not just a list of symptoms. Understanding your unique background is key because therapy is not a cookie-cutter approach. Our team includes providers who are Certified Level One Solutions Focused Therapists and received specialized training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Habit Reversal Training (HRT). We also have clinicians who have completed Basic training in EMDR and the Flash Technique. We work with individuals experiencing neurodivergent issues, gifted learners, individuals coping to manage life transitions, women’s mental health issues around shifting roles in family and career, and immigration/re-entry adjustment stressors. We have licensed therapists who can see individuals residing in California, Florida, Massachusetts and Virginia. However our Associate Clinicians are only able to see residents of California at this time. Individuals who have Aetna, Kaiser Permanente, Lyra, SpringHealth, or Sutter EAP benefits are able to use their health plan coverage to pay for sessions with our licensed clinician only. For everyone else we work with Mentaya, a platform that helps clients get money back on out-of-network therapy sessions. If you have out-of-network benefits, Mentaya will file claims and handle the insurance paperwork to make sure you get reimbursed. They charge a 5% fee per claim and have helped people get thousands of dollars back per year. You can sign up using this link: https://app.mentaya.com/register?p=XqKyUZD7e4vJZUJ89P3c Note: Mentaya's goal is to save you time and money. It's completely optional, and as your therapist, I do not benefit in any way from your participation. **Sliding scale rates available on a limited cash pay-only basis with our Associate Clinicians**

Welcome to sfpsychiatric services. I look forward to working with college students with various backgrounds and issues. My training and experience provides me with an expertise working with this age group. It is truly a pleasure working with this population. This developmental phase brings many challenges as well as rewards as students enter into young adulthood. Having a trusted person to explore and process the adjustment is invaluable. Each person is unique and I treat everyone as an individual which guides my clinical decisions. I have over 25 years of experience working with people from a childhood to adulthood. I provide medication management and psycho-therapy as needed to students in Connecticut and Massachusetts. I take pride in my non-judgmental style, my ability to connect well with others, and most importantly competence and integrity.

To establish a relationship with a therapist takes time and can be rewarding when you are able to build trust, knowing you are able to confide and share your perspective, your story. This process allows the individual the opportunity to gain clarity in a setting that is confidential and accepting. All too often emotional/physical pain can have a significant impact on our ability to remain independent, self-reliant, engaged in everyday tasks and life roles at level of independence that is rewarding to oneself and those they care for. As an Occupational Therapist with a background in behavioral health, I take a holistic approach. As an Occupational Therapist I have assisted many clients in understanding how their performance patterns, habits, routines, and roles influence life satisfaction. This process allows my clients the opportunity to promote, establish (or restore), or modify a task within a life role to create a sense of control over ones life. My background and 25 year experience have demonstrated success in supporting clients who experience physical/emotional pain and reduced functional independence. My ability to allow an individual to feel safe, acknowledged, and empowered while developing the tools and skills necessary for emotional stability, greater independence, and an effective resource.

Emotions, transitions, and life challenges can feel overwhelming for many people. My goal is to help you feel more in control, find peace in your day-to-day, and work towards your goals for wellness. I work with adults and teens who are dealing with issues like anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, or life transitions. Together, we’ll work towards understanding your emotions and behaviors in a supportive, empathetic, nonjudgmental environment. My style is warm, collaborative, strength-based and goal oriented. I focus on a holistic approach to counseling and meeting you where you are at in your process. I take an integrative approach to therapy, combining evidence-based techniques such as CBT and mindfulness practices with psychodynamic insight. I believe that therapy is a journey of self-discovery and growth, so we’ll work together to identify the causes of your challenges, develop coping strategies, and create lasting change. Therapy is a partnership, and it’s important that you feel comfortable and heard. In our work together, I’ll provide a space where you can speak freely without judgment, and I’ll support you as you explore your feelings, thoughts, experiences, and behaviors. Everyone has the potential for growth and healing, and I’m here to help guide that process.

Each person has their own unique story and reason for seeking therapy-it is my privilege to support you in this space! My work is trauma-informed and person-centered. My approach is largely feminist and I have a devotion to working with minoritized identities in ways that feel culturally-relevant. My previous experience in community mental health has allowed me to work with a wide variety of folks in ways that feel most accessible and meaningful to them. I want to meet you where you're at and am honored to accompany you on your journey of healing.

I enjoy working with a motivated client who wants to make changes and feel better. Feeling anxious? You are not alone. It can be easy to end up feeling overwhelmed, uncertain and depressed - The pressures of relationships, school or work, family, friends all seem to pile up - and then taking care of yourself ends up on the bottom of the priority list. At Movemental Wellbeing, my approach is to help create a calm space where the anxiety and overwhelm don't have such a profound hold on you. One of the best strategies I know to do this is to find opportunities to go outside with clients, to go for a walk, and to feel connected and understood. Many of my colleagues and clients describe me as having a calm and compassionate presence, and that is the foundation of my work with you. Beyond that, I also believe that therapy doesn't have to be hard all the time. I like to find moments of humor, fun, joy and play and to make sessions experiential and movement-based to support all aspects of you. If the typical version of therapy (sitting and talking) doesn't feel like the best way for you to do this work, let's try something different. I'm committed to making therapy engaging, insightful and thought-provoking (and even fun). If this sounds like a refreshing approach that you might be interested in trying, please schedule a free consult call!
